Banhammer Pro enables you to monitor your site’s traffic and ban any suspicious targets. For example, if you run a forum or bulletin board, and someone is being obnoxious, you can ban them with a click. This animated-GIF tutorial shows how to ban and warn any target via the Banhammer Armory.

Warn targets

To warn any target, do the following:

  1. Select a target via the dropdown menu (e.g., IP Address, User Agent, et al)
  2. Click the “Warn” button

Ban targets

To ban any target, do the following:

  1. Select a target via the dropdown menu (e.g., IP Address, User Agent, et al)
  2. Click the “Ban” button

Of course, you can do both — warn and ban — any target, as shown below:

About warning and banning

FYI here is what happens when you ban or warn a target:

  • Warn — target is flagged and will show as such when viewed in the Armory or Tower
  • Ban — target is denied access to your site

The main difference is that, warned targets will never know that they are warned; whereas banned targets will be denied access to your site.
