Hi, I recently purchased Simple Ajax Chat Pro, and I was wondering how I can make it so that users can set their own profile picture next to the chat? By default, it shows the gray person icon, but I would like it to display as shown in the screenshot on your homepage, with different people having different avatars or profile pictures in the chat.
Hi Dario, glad to help. When avatars are enabled in the settings and the user is logged in to WordPress, their chosen avatar will be displayed next to each of their chat messages. Otherwise, if the user is not logged in, or if the user has not set their own avatar, the default generic “person” icon will be displayed. Here is a guide with more information.
What settings are you referring to? I am using ultima member to allow visitors to register. If you have any advice to give me I am happy to listen because I can not make the avatars appear next to the chats
I’m not sure about 3rd-party plugins or themes. But in general, you can tell if any user has an avatar by visiting their profile under the “Users” menu in the WP Admin Area. For example, if user named “Sam” shows an avatar in their user profile, it will be displayed in chats, assuming the avatar setting is enabled (General ▸ Display Avatars).
Yes the avatar option is enabled but I don’t know how to allow a user to register and upload their avatar and have it come out on your plugin that I purchased.
Then I have one last question, but is there a way to have a private chat only between two users? Like through some button or invitation?
Enabling users to register is part of WordPress core functionality. There are many guides that explain how to enable it.
Then for this: “is there a way to have a private chat only between two users? Like through some button or invitation?”
Yes, private chats can be set up manually, here is a guide that explains the steps.
Hi, could you help me change the background of the chat, meaning the background of the various chat bubbles, to a light blue color? Also, I’d like to change the button to an orange color. I’ve tried, but I can’t seem to insert the correct CSS, nor can I figure out if it should go in the plugin or in the theme editor.
Hi Dario, I sent my reply via email. Please check your spam folder if you haven’t yet seen it. Thank you.
